How to connect wired Infrared (IR) beam sensors to alarm systems

0

This tutorial will show you how to connect wired infrared beam sensor to work with alarm system.

Before connect the beams to alarm system, you may need to prepare the following items:

a. Wired Alarm System.

b. EOL resistor (Now our alarm systems are using 2.2K EOL resistor)

Measure the resistor

The resistor must be the same value of original one from alarm panels

c. Wired IR Beam Sensor

1. Open the cover of wired IR beams of transmitter and receiver, wiring the  power of transmitter

2. Wiring the power of receiver and transmitter with power supply.

3. There are two connection methods for wired zones:  Normal Open  (NO) and Normal Close (NC).

4. Normal Open connection as below:

Normal Open Connection For Wired zones

Details: If you want to use the Normal Open connection between wired IR beams and alarm panel.

You should connect the EOL resistor with the Normal Open (Termial 3   and Terminal 5) in parallel connection just as above picture showing.  If the connection is correct, you can use the muti-meter to measure the resist value between Normal Open connection (terminal 3 and terminal 5), the value should be 2.2K.

5. Normal Close (NC) Connection as below:

normal close connection for infrared beam sensor

Normal Close Connection of Wired IR beams

Details: If you want to use the Normal Close connection between wired IR beams and alarm panel.

You should connect the EOL resistor with the Normal Open (Termial 3   and Terminal 4) in series connection just as above picture showing.  If the connection is correct, you can use the muti-meter to measure the resist value between COM (terminal 3)  and the other side of resistor, the value should be 2.2K.
